Samsung will be launching a new version of the Galaxy S2 called the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus. This new handset will run Android 4.2.1, which is the latest version of Android. Sadly, the handset will not be coming to the UK.
Like the Galaxy S2, the S2 Plus will sport a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. As you can see, everything else is the same. The only difference is Jelly Bean on board and 8GB of internal storage. The S2 runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) right out of the box and comes with 16GB of storage.
Of course, the S2 Plus is nothing like Samsung’s current flagship the Galaxy S3. However, with Jelly Bean running, it’s still a good investment. It just sad the phone will not be landing in the UK.
Speaking to CNET UK, Samsung said, “We will not be ranging this device in the UK.” It will, however, be landing to other areas around the globe in the future.
The good news is Samsung has confirmed that they will be rolling out the Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S2. Sadly, the Korean tech giant is yet to announce when the update will be pushed out.
